Language Arts:

  • Writing
    • The conventions of writing, and grammar skills as well as covering all the career and readiness standards mandated by Indiana’s Department of Education.
  • Reading:
    • Literature circles, usage of the Reading Wonders Program, and encourage independent reading. 

Math: 

  • Everyday Math curriculum: place value and rounding to six digits, multiplication of double-digit numbers, long division, and basic geometry and algebra.
  • Math Flex: Follows the South Bend Community School Corporation curriculum map for 4th grade.

Science:

  • Science Fair: Thursday, December 1st 2016
    • Students will try and answer a question they have about the world around us by using the scientific method.  Students will get to present their project to a panel of judges and the rest of the school in December.

    • Earth's Changing Surface
  • PLTW
    • Energy: Collisions
    • Input/ Output: Computer Systems
    • Input/ Output: Human Brain

Social Studies:

  • My World Curriculum: Indiana State History
    • Three different regions of Indiana, their locations within the state, and for what each region is known
    • Different Native American groups that lived in Indiana
    • Cabin Days Fall Field Trip: This field trip focuses on the important figures who helped create the South Bend we know today.
    • Natural resources and industries that helped create Indiana’s economy.
