About Kennedy Academy

SCHOOL MISSION

What Do You Want To Be?

We will achieve excellence in learning for highly capable primary students, embracing the unique strengths and potential of each individual in an atmosphere of wonder, trust, and care. We commit to building a stimulating and challenging educational environment that prepares students to enter a technologically sophisticated global community with confidence and pride.

SCHOOL INFORMATION

Kennedy Primary Academy was built on Olive Street at the site of the former Kaley School. The school was named after John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States of America.

  • Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. attended the school's dedication ceremony on October 29, 1972.
  • One of the unique features of the school is the planetarium.
  • Currently, there are only 13 remaining planetariums within the state of Indiana.
  • Kennedy Academy students are provided an ongoing opportunity to experience an "evening under the stars" during their regular school day starting in Kindergarten that extends throughout their journey within our academy.

Today, Kennedy Academy is an SBCSC magnet elementary school for students that offers academic challenges above and beyond those required by Indiana Academic Standards to highly capable students. The Academy provides a stimulating educational environment where students participate in both guided and self-directed exploration across subject areas with an emphasis on STEAM-based curriculum that combines:

  Science
