Kennedy Chess Club
3rd and 4th Grade Students
You are invited to be a member of the
Kennedy Chess Club!
The club welcomes all ability levels including those that want to learn how to play the game. Teaching children to play chess is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to promote their intellectual and social development. They learn to focus, to analyze logically, to create plans, to weigh the consequences of their actions - all in an environment that fosters friendship, respect, and sportsmanship.
There will be several tournaments available throughout the year as well as practice sessions during their meeting time. Registration for all interested third and fourth graders should submit their registrations forms as soon as they are distributed in the fall. Please return these forms to Mrs. Artusi ASAP.
The club membership is limited to the 1st 30 students in each grade. Families will be notified in writing for acceptance into either the fall or spring session as well as waitlist status. The club will be selected on a first-come basis.
Chess Club typically runs approximately an hour and a half after dismissal
Activity bus for transportation is available but may take up to 2 hours for your child to get home. It is highly encouraged that parents pick up their students. The length of the time riding the bus home after Chess Club is dependent on the number of students on that bus for all after-school activities and how far across town they may have to travel.
